Isles Yatch Club
Punta Gorda, FL
In August 2004, Hurricane Charley inflicted severe damages on the original clubhouse. The membership decided to build a new main clubhouse building. In the interim, they settled themselves into a modular facility next to the "rising" new clubhouse. In November 2006, the new clubhouse opened and the modular building was transformed into a well-equipped fitness center, Dockmaster's office, boaters' lounge, restrooms, additional meeting rooms, and Billiards Room. That temporary building had well exceeded its lifespan to the club. The new design was to replace all those spaces of the modular structure incorporated into the expanded clubhouse building. The fitness program had grown out of their space and needed an entirely new Wellness building for strength training, yoga, and aerobics along with new pool space for a large water aerobics curriculum. The Billiards was a hit and had plans to expand into a four table lounge with attached bar. Additional card rooms, conference rooms, activity rooms and a bathroom block to serve a new and expanded 3,200 square foot outdoor dining experience with an indoor / outdoor split bar called the Yardarm.
