Modern Malbec

Downtown Sarasota, FL

Built in 2019

Nestled in a suburban neighborhood with homes of all different styles this 3,900 square footfamily friendly warm modern home stands on its own. The white stucco, grey stone, glass and wood siding all work together to soften the sharp edges of the exterior design aesthetic.  Openness is a driving concept behind the design; the ability to see and be seen was not discouraged. Large glass panels flood natural light into the interior spaces, inversely, light spills out after dusk to enliven the darkness beyond.

The large outdoor living space flows as one with the home with a flush transition from indoor living to outdoor living. The glass division becomes invisible as the repetition of materials matches interior and exterior. This is evident at the exterior stone feature as it flows past a side light to the interior and the floor material consistently replicates from interior to exterior.

Light dances against the white stucco and grazes the rough stone edges as these materials harmonize to make a whole experience. The interior is mainly a stark shell to be filled with collectables, photos, and memories. The five-bedroom home features a soaring great room ceiling with clearstory windows, a home office in the age of work from home, play-room for kids and a roof deck to admire sunsets in the evening.
